Evolution of the Telephone

Throughout the years, since the 1800s the telephone has gone through many changes and improvements adjustments to help make the world a bit easier. The telephone has revolutionized the way society communicates and interacts with each other and continues to improve to this day. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the first telephone beating Elisha Gray by a few hours. In the 1880s, the phone that was used was called a cradle phone. It is very different from current phones. In 1912, they used candlestick phones. This is also very different from present phones. The next phone used in the 1920s was called a desktop rotary dial phone. This phone is a kind more people are familiar with. You rotate the numbers to dial somebody's number. The next phone which was used in the 1970s is different but also similar. This phone was hung on the wall and you pressed the buttons to dial somebody’s phone number. This phone was called the wall touch-tone pad phone. In the 1990s Nokia and Motorola phones were very popular. These companies made flip phones. In 1999, Nokia released the Nokia 3210. This phone sold over 160 million units and is one of the most popular phones in history. In 2007, the iPhone was released. The release of this phone changed the way phones were designed. Most phones had touch screens and were more convenient and easier to use and carry around. This phone sold over 6 million units. In 2010, the first phone to have 4G installed on it was the HTC EVO 4G. 4G allowed customers to surf the internet at high speeds. All these phones have changed a lot and they only keep evolving. Technology in the future will be unpredictable.
